By:
Belly Love fall beer

Image from Belly Love Brewing

We’ve compiled a list of some of this fall’s seasonal beer releases from Virginia breweries that you won’t want to miss.

Beale’s Brewery

Oktoberfest

Märzen, 5.6% ABV

Oktoberfest is brewed with 100% imported German ingredients, and naturally carbonated. Experience notes of light caramel and multigrain toast with a smooth finish.

Belly Love Brewing Company

März Attacks

Märzen, 6.2% ABV

März Attacks is a rich amber lager with a clean, toasty and bready malt flavor and a subdued hop presence.

Blue Mountain Brewery

13.Five Oktoberfest

Lager Bier, 6.0% ABV

This authentic Festbier, of balanced malts and hops, will bring the party to you. Lightly bready, toasted malt tones with light hopping.

Spooky

Imperial Pumpkin Ale, 8.2% ABV

This Imperial Pumpkin Ale is aged with cocoa nibs that meld with flavors of oak, bourbon, vanilla and coconut. It’s made with 2,000 pounds of pumpkin puree in every batch.

Center of the Universe Brewing Co.

El Duderino

Milk Stout, 6.5% ABV

This decadent White Russian milk pours midnight black and is capped with a tan pillow-y head. Eight different malts and whole vanilla beans create flavors of chocolate and espresso.

Oktoberfest

Märzen, 5.7% ABV

German Munich and Vienna malts are used to give the beer a slightly sweet and malty flavor, with some toasted notes as well. Noble German hops add  just enough bitterness.

Chubby Squirrel Brewing

Chubtoberfest Weizenbock

Weizenbock, 7.4% ABV

This is not your usual Oktoberfest beer, with heavy notes of clove and banana from the yeast and a depth of flavor only the finest malts can bring.

Pumpkin Eater

Pumpkin/Yam Beer, 7.4% ABV

Malty, spicy and pumpkin-y, with a little bit of booze on the finish.

Creek Bottom Brewing

Festbier

Märzen, 5.8% ABV

This beer has a slightly bread-like maltiness and touch of sweetness but does not finish sweet. Robust, but not heavy, a perfect beer to usher fall in.

Punkin’ Wagoneer

Pumpkin/Yam Beer, 5.8% ABV

This pumpkin porter is medium bodied with a relatively low ABV that will get you across the patch and back.

Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company

O’Fest

Oktoberfest Lager, 5.9% ABV

O’Fest is medium-bodied, golden in color and tastes smooth, malty and bready thanks to the contemporary blend of malts and hops.

München On Hops

Bavarian IPA, 6.7% ABV

München On Hops uses all German ingredients and abides by the Bavarian purity law, but Devil’s Backbone gave it some American flair with extra hops straight from the source.

Hardywood Park Craft Brewery

Farmhouse Pumpkin

Saison/Wallonian-Style Farmhouse Ale, 8.5% ABV

Farmhouse Pumpkin is brewed with a classic saison yeast, Virginia-grown sugar pumpkins, spices and fresh ginger root, presenting a soft mouthfeel with balanced, rustic fall flavors.

Gingerbread Stout

Imperial Milk Stout, 9.2% ABV

Gingerbread Stout features an intriguing evolution of notes, from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon, to a snap of ginger in the finish.

Legend Brewery

Oktoberfest

Märzen, 5.0% ABV

This copper hued lager is brewed on a base of Vienna malt and owes its rich flavor profile to generous helpings of Munich and caramel varieties.

Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery

Carrot Cake Imperial Amber Ale

Amber Ale, 9% ABV

Carrot Cake Imperial Amber Ale is made with five specialty malts and hundreds of pounds of freshly grated carrots. Spice notes of cinnamon, allspice, cardamom, clove and vanilla.

Vanilla Virginia Black Bear

Russian Imperial Stout, 9.3% ABV

Ten specialty grains comprise the backbone of the beer, with notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee.

Smartmouth Brewing

The Princess Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest, 5.5% ABV

This copper lager boasts the perfect union of caramel toffee sweetness with warm toasty maltiness.

South Street Brewery

Barrel Aged Imperial Satan’s Pony

Amber Lager, 9.0% ABV

Classic Satan’s Pony has been doubled up. Twice the malt, twice the hops and then aged for two months in freshly emptied bourbon barrels.

Twisted Gourd

Imperial Pumpkin Ale, 8.4% ABV

This chai-spiced ale pairs pumpkin puree with cacao to create a unique beer.

Stable Craft Brewing

Festbier

Lager, 5.4% ABV

A delicious example of the Märzen-style lager, pouring a beautiful orange color. This malt-forward, authentic German lager is perfect for celebrating Oktoberfest!

FUmpkin

Pumpkin/Yam Ale, 5.8%

Nice amber color with hints of caramel, crust and spice on the nose. It’s like drinking a pumpkin pie with the hints of bread and crust.

Virginia Beer Co.

Pumpkin Patches

Oatmeal Stout, 6.2% ABV

Pumpkin Patches is brewed with sugar pumpkins and a house blend of spices. Smooth and creamy with warming hints of pumpkin pie.

Rob Your Head

Imperial Red Ale, 8.4% ABV

Roasted and caramel malts deliver a robust, ruby body that is balanced by assertive bitterness and a big dry-hop of classic American IPA hops.
