Casanel Vineyards & Winery’s 2016 Estate Carménère was awarded “Best of Class” in 2019 at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the nation’s largest wine competition where over 6,800 wines from 1,132 wineries from across America are judged.
Casanel Carménère was selected as the Best Carménère in the nation, an accolade the winery hopes will promote the rare, Bordeaux varietal and Virginia’s wine regions with further awards and recognitions.
“We could not be prouder of the team here at Casanel Vineyards and Winery,” said Kathleen DeSouza Henley, winemaker and vineyard manager at Casanel Vineyards & Winery. “We are humbled and moved by this award and have renewed motivation to continue our mission which is to create high-quality, Virginia-grown and produced wines that reflect our people, passion and sense of place here in Loudoun County.”
