Casanel Vineyards & Winery recently was named one of the 2017 Harvest Challenge winners, an event in Sonoma County, Calif., owned and operated by Wine Competitions Management & Productions. The Leesburg winery was selected from a group of professionals judging wines based on terroir, including specific wine region soil and climate, and its specific relationship with wine quality.
Over 1,025 wines entered the competition, with judges awarding 54 Best of Class designations, 24 Best of AVAs, 37 Double Gold medals and 145 Gold medals. Casanel Vineyards & Winery received one of the Best of AVA awards for their 2015 Estate-grown Petit Verdot red wine, and it’s the second consecutive year that Casanel has won both a gold medal and Best of Class for their Petit Verdot varietal.
