On Nov. 1, Devils Backbone and Three Notch’d released a new rauchbier, Feliz Navidad, for charity. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Feliz Navidad will benefit three hunger relief organizations: Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Nelson County Pantry and Rockbridge Area Relief Association. Feliz Navidad’s availability is limited on draft in the Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub in Roseland and Outpost Tap Room in Lexington. Each purchase of the beer comes with a custom glass and helps provide 28 meals to neighbors in need.
Feliz Navidad is a collaboration beer from Devils Backbone and Three Notch’d and is part of the “Brewgooders” project, which includes 18 other breweries from around the country pairing up to benefit local charities. Each brewery picked a beer style and wildcard ingredient randomly out of a hat to create. Devils Backbone and Three Notch’d picked “smoked beer” as a style and “lime” as an ingredient. Devils Backbone Brewmaster Jason Oliver and Three Notch’d’s founding Brewmaster Dave Warwick developed a lightly smoked lime lager inspired by the vibrant flavors of Mexico such as mescal and lime and the beer-lime drink chelada.
As a part of the “Brewgooder” project, the brewery with the most social shares and most sales for their beer receives additional funds and up to $20,000 combined to donate to their respective charities. To support Devils Backbone and Three Notch’d, purchase Feliz Navidad and share on social media with #FelizNavidadBeer.
Devils Backbone Basecamp Brewpub is located at 200 Mosbys Run, Roseland. Devils Backbone Outpost Tap Room is located at 50 N. Wind Lane, Lexington.
