What better way to expand your spirit horizons than on a sunset tour down the James River and Kanawha Canal? Now through August, Venture Richmond’s Riverfront Canal Cruises are offering monthly booze cruises that pair the rich history of Downtown Richmond with the exceptional craftmanship of the city’s most prominent makers.
Each hour-long cruise sets sail at 7 p.m. from the canal’s turning basin located at 139 Virginia St. While on the water, up to 20 passengers can enjoy an intimate conversation with master distillers and sample their from-scratch bourbons and whiskeys neat or doctored up in a cocktail. Complimentary snacks are provided as well.
When the Tuesday night cruise docks at 8 p.m., the after-party commences at the nearby Shiplock Brewing where riders can socialize, sip exclusive cocktails and brews and take their chance on spirit-themed giveaways. Meet Dwight Chew of James River Distillery on May 21, Luke Sartori of Virago Spirits on June 11, Belle Isle Moonshine representatives on July 9 and crafters from Three Crosses Distilling Co. on Aug. 20.
