Narmada Winery of Amissville, Va. took home a gold medal for Narmada Melange 2014 at the TexSom International Wine Awards in Dallas, Tx., a competition with a judging panel of more than thirty Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine. More than 3000 entries from around the world were sampled by 67 judges from the US and nine other countries.
The profile of the 2014 Melange includes a purple-colored body showing the freshness of the Cabernet Sauvignon blend with Bordeaux varietals. It is 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 12% Petit Verdot. It is made with 100% Virginia grapes with fruit-forward flavors of plum, currant and blackberry seasoned by spicy oak and polished tannin.
Currently the 2014 Melange is only available online from the winery through special order, and meant to be aged further. The winery is also offering a vertical 3-pack for purchase with vintages 2008, 2009 and 2010, while the 2011 vintage is available in the tasting room.
