Family-owned New Kent Winery takes pride in their exceptional wines made at their vineyards and storied location in New Kent County, Va. The winery planted their first vines in 2001 and opened their doors in 2008 in a historic building making use of reclaimed wood and materials well over a century old. New Kent currently produces 6,500 cases of wine a year, and a offers a selection of varietals including Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Vidal Norton and Cabernet Sauvignon.
New Kent’s Vidal Blanc grapes are grown from a hybrid of Trebbiano and Seibel varietals. As soon as the grapes are harvested they are immediately chilled and fermented to ensure a refreshing light bodied and slightly sweet wine. Vidal Blanc is best served chilled and pairs well with light chicken or fish dishes that are not heavily sauced. It’s an enjoyable wine that’s great for sipping on warm summer days. For a perfect pairing, New Kent recommends trying their Vidal Blanc with their Grilled Citrus Chicken Recipe.
