Wine, beer, spirits … and what’s the next big thing in the craft-alcohol game? We hear there’s some new buzz about mead. Silver Hand Meadery, the first of its kind in Hampton Roads, is slated to open this fall in Williamsburg. Owners Glenn and Sherri Lavender have been busy bees preparing a space on Monticello Avenue to brew, sell and offer tastings of mead, a combination of fermented honey and water. As one of the world’s oldest alcoholic beverages, a meadery should fit right in the colonial capital. Couple that with the extreme popularity of craft beverages and we say, “Honey, they’ve got this!”
Silver Hand Meadery is at 224 Monticello Ave. in Williamsburg More information is available on their Facebook page.
