Castle Hill Cider releases two new dry ciders just in time for Virginia Cider Week. The newest bottles from the Keswick-based cidery, a 2016 Terrestrial and 2016 Celestial, will be available for tasting and purchase at several of Castle Hill’s Cider Week tastings and happy hours, as well as through their recently launched online ordering system.
The 2016 Terrestrial is a brightly acidic and bone-dry cider made with Winesap and Albemarle Pippin apples. Its acidity and crisp finish pairs well with oysters from Virginia’s oyster country and other aromatic dishes. A swig of the nuanced Terrestrial can also help cleanse the palate when enjoying rich cheeses.
Slightly off-dry with plenty of fruit and body, the 2016 Celestial breathes fruity, floral and spicy aromas. It’s a blend of seven apple varieties, including classic heirlooms like Grimes Golden, Winesap and Albemarle Pippin, and contains five different strains of yeast. Its complex layers of flavor complement the tastes of exotic fare such as Asian cuisine and ripened cheeses.
Castle Hill Cider’s 2016 Terrestrial and 2016 Celestial are available for purchase through Castle Hill’s new online shopping cart feature. Castle Hill now delivers nine ciders in 500mL and 700mL varieties to 38 states.
