Mermaid Winery’s Virginia Beach location celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, March 15. Following the ribbon cutting, Mermaid Winery served guests exclusive tastings as well as offered complimentary tours of the winemaking facility.
Mermaid Winery established itself as Virginia’s first urban winery in 2012 when owner Jennifer Eichert opened her first location in Norfolk’s Ghent neighborhood. After many years of success, Eichert decided to extend her winemaking journey to the beach.
“The energy in the Chic’s Beach area is amazing and has fueled the Mermaid Winery team with exceptional enthusiasm,” says Eichert. “We are excited to be part of the Shore Drive community and produce Virginia Beach-made wines.”
In addition to the winery’s hand-pressed bottles crafted from Virginia and California grapes, Mermaid Winery also serves 750 wines from around the world. Guests can witness Mermaid Winery’s winemaking process up close at the Virginia Beach wine bar.
The 8,084-square-foot winery located on Shore Drive also features a tasting room, event space and restaurant offering both indoor and outdoor dining areas.
Mermaid Winery’s coastal facility is located at 4401 Shore Dr., Virginia Beach.
