Recognized as the “Most Family Friendly Winery in the World” by Wine Enthusiast in 2012, Delaplane’s Barrel Oak Winery is now celebrating 10 years of exceptional service and award winning vinos. The weekend-long 10th Anniversary Extravaganza will take place from Friday, May 18 to Sunday, May 20 and will entertain guests with live music, savory wood fired pizzas, wine sangria and over $10,000 in prizes and giveaways.
Barrel Oak Winery was established in 2008 and was a first for many Virginia wine endeavors. Barrel Oak was the first Virginia winery to serve wines from other local vintners and in 2016 became the first farm winery to expand its operations into craft brewing.
Festivities for Barrel Oak’s 10th Anniversary celebration kick off Friday, May 18 at 11 a.m. Guests are invited to bring their children, dogs and picnic essentials to enjoy live music by California Bob from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Barrel Oak will also continue its weekly TGI Sunsets, offering guests a $4 discount on all wine bottles from 4 to 9 p.m.
The pizza oven will fire up at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 as Wood Fired Foods begins serving up their beloved handcrafted pies. Fresh Chesapeake Bay oysters from Nomini Bay will also be available. Dan Cronin kicks off the Saturday concert series at noon, followed by Bugs at 4:30 p.m.
Coinciding with Saturday’s event is Barrel Oak’s first Bully Paws Wags N’ Wine fundraiser. The charity event will benefit Bully Paws Pit Bull Patriots, a nonprofit dedicated to finding foster homes for pit bull-type dogs, and will host a raffle, face painting station, bake sale and adoption fair.
Another ticket fundraiser will be held on Sunday, May 20 to benefit Allegro School. Both organizations will receive a portion of sales collected from wine tasting fees.
Also taking place on Sunday are two additional performances by Lewis and Gallagher at 1 p.m. and a Sermons from the Vine segment by Pastor Kim Ciftci.
Over the course of the three-day party, guests can fill out tickets for the chance to win winery-specific prizes like memberships to the Barrel Cru Club, BOW WOW Cru Club and the Barrel Oak Farm Taphouse Growler Team. Drawings will take place on Monday, May 21.
