Two award-winning Virginia companies have teamed up for two new limited bottles. Alexandria-based Port City Brewing Company and Catoctin Creek Distilling Company, located in Purcellville, have joined forces to release two new whiskies.
The Colossal X Malt Whisky and Colossal V Finish are made with Port City’s popular Colossal ale.
Colossal X Malt was made using a special release of Colossal X ale from Port City. This collaborative malt whiskey coincides with Port City’s tenth anniversary and the release of their Colossal X anniversary beer. Colossal X Malt is 92 proof, 46% ABV and is $69.99 for the 750mL bottle.
Colossal V is the cask proof version of Catoctin Creek’s most-awarded whisky, Roundstone Rye. Roundstone Rye Cask Proof, a dark, complex and smooth whisky, is released twice per year. This version is finished in Port City’s Colossal V ale that gives the whisky an ale maltiness with an undeniable roundness and spiciness from the Catoctin rye. Colossal V Finish is 116 proof, 58% AB and is $89.89 for the 750mL bottle.
These bottles are available in Catoctin Creek’s online store starting Monday, Jan. 11 at 8 a.m.
